European Lifelong Guidance Policy Network

The European Commission is to support a proposal for funding for a European Lifelong Guidance Policy Network to assist the European lifelong guidance policy implementation at national level.

Membership of the Network is open to each of the countries eligible for assistance under the Lifelong Learning Programme 2007-2013. To date 29 countries have committed to full membership of the Network and Ireland will participate initially as an observer.

The first meeting of the Network will take place in Amsterdam on December 3 2007.

Each country will have up to three representatives and where national coordination bodies or guidance fora exist, these will provide the basis for the composition of national delegations.

The European Commission will provide financial support for the Network. The European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (CEDEFOP) will participate as an adviser to the Network and the European Training Foundation (ETF) will participate in the Network’s activities as part of its work in supporting candidate countries and neighbouring regions.

Regular contact will be established with other relevant bodies or networks at national, European or international level, including:

- The Euroguidance network
- The European Public Employment Services (PES) network
- The European Forum for Student Guidance and similar networks
- The International Centre for Career Development and Public Policy
- Other international organisations and bodies such as the OECD, IVEA, etc
- Other relevant stakeholders such as European bodies representing social partners, parents, etc.
